2024 Calendar Printable

I’m super late this year, but the 2024 calendar printable is finally here! I was planning on skipping it this year, but had a lot of requests to update it for the new year. So… here it is as a thank-you to all of you! I am so thankful to everyone that has taken the time to support me in some way throughout the year. Every comment, share, like and follow means the world to me. So thank-you from the bottom of my heart and enjoy your new 2024 desk calendar!

How to Download the Desk Calendar

I have all of the calendar months in one PDF file for you, so you just need to download the one link and save it to your files. If you’re having any troubles downloading it, try using Google Chrome for your browser {if you aren’t already} and check your security settings.

Once you have it downloaded, you can just print it off on your computer. I usually print mine four to a page {about a 3.5 x5 size}, but it works as a full size page too. If you print it as a different size, just make sure that check that you’re not cutting off any important information. Thick computer paper or cardstock is recommended for printing. Use a paper trimmer to trim the borders to your desired size.

Tips for Printing the Calendar

Every printer is a little bit different but here are a few printing tips that I use on our printer {and I use a Mac}:

  • Always preview your images first to make sure that you like the layout before printing.
  • To print four to a page, go to “preview” in the printer settings and then click on “layout”. Click on 4 pages {you could do 2 to a page too if you wanted the calendar it a little bigger} and print it out.

  • If the calendar is not filling as much of the space as you would like, click on scale to fit or increase the scale percentage.
  • I have left the calendar borderless so you can trim to whatever size you would like; however most printers will allow you to add a border when you print. This is under the layout section as well for our printer.

Calendar Gift Idea

These little calendars make the perfect Christmas gifts! They’re really cute and everyone can use a calendar! Once you have all of the months cut out, just add the title page to the top and package it all up. For a pretty presentation, add it to a little clipboard or clipboard frame, tie it up with some baker’s twine or narrow ribbon, or use a cute bulldog clip tied with some bells and ribbon.

How to Display Your Calendar

There are so many different ways that you can use this calendar! I like to use it as a small desk calendar – usually right on my work desk or at our kitchen command center – but I’ve loved hearing about all of the different ways that you’ve displayed yours and packaged them up for gifts.  Here are some of my favorite ways that I’ve used this calendar in previous years…

  • Place it on a wood slice holder. A wood slice makes a really cute calendar holder!  Just cut off a 4-5 diameter piece of wood {I just found a big branch in my parent’s backyard} and then use a saw to make a small groove in the center to hold your calendar. You can dress it up with some ribbon or twine if you would like.

  • Display it in a frame.  Keep all of the months in the frame and then just rotate them around each month.

  • Create a mini calendar for your purse.
  • Use a clipboard. A clipboard is a quick and easy way to display you calendar. Just grab one in a similar size to what you print your calendar at and clip it on. {This is last year’s calendar!}
  • Pin it on a pinboard.

These faux gingerbread ornaments are so easy to make and can be used year after year.  Perfect to use for present toppers and other Christmas decor too!

I love the look of gingerbread decor. There’s something just so cozy and nostalgic about it. These cute faux gingerbread ornaments smell amazing and can be used for many Christmases to come. There are so many ways that you can incorporate them into your Christmas decor too. Get creative and have fun with them!

How to Make Faux Gingerbread Ornaments

Supplies

To Make

  • Preheat the oven to 200 F.
  • Using your hands, mix the applesauce and cinnamon together until a smooth ball of dough is formed.  If the dough is feeling a little crumbly, you can add a small amount of
  • Place about 1/3rd of the dough between 2 pieces of plastic wrap and roll into a thin sheet approximately 1/3rd of an inch thick.
  • Remove the top layer of plastic wrap and cut out dough with the cookie cutters.  Repeat as needed until all of the dough has been used.
  • Place the ornaments on a cookie sheet and use a skewer to make a hole if you would like. For my snowflakes, I chose to wrap them with fishing line to hang instead of making a hole.
  • Bake for 2 hours and 30 minutes and allow to cool. Ensure that they are loosened from the cookie sheet prior to cooling. {NOTE: If you are doing this for a school project and you don’t have access to an oven, let them air dry for at least 2 days until firm}
  • Add details with the white puffy paint and allow to dry.

  •  Add baker’s twine or ribbon to hang.

You can make these faux gingerbread ornaments into any shape you would like – gingerbread men, little trees, even gingerbread houses! I can’t wait to make more!

Ghost Halloween candy holder on a porch decorated for Halloween.

This DIY ghost Halloween candy holder is such a fun way to display all of your Halloween treats!  It’s perfect for a Halloween party or Trick or Treating decor.

DIY Ghost Halloween Candy Holder

I don’t usually do a lot of Halloween decorating, but I do like to dress up our front porch for the Trick or Treaters. Last year was the first year that we weren’t going to be home for Halloween night, so I needed something to hold our Halloween candy.

These cute DIY Ghost candy bowl holders looked so cute and fit in perfectly with the rest of our fall porch decor. They were super easy to make and I actually had all of the supplies on hand.

Ghost Halloween Candy Holder Tutorial

Materials

  • round planter {If you don’t have one with legs you could always raise it up on a box or other riser. You could even use a round basket.}

Instructions

  • Find the middle of the sheet and place it in the middle of the planter. Add the bowl. The front and back will be longer than the sides.

  • Fold the sheet under along the bottom, forming pleats as you move around the planter. You can cut the bottom of the sheet if you would like, but folding it under allows you to not destroy the sheet.

  • Cut ovals out for the eyes. You can do a mouth too if you would like. Use the temporary spray adhesive to attach to the sheet. The eyes can be removed when you’re done with the candy bowl so the sheet can be used again.

  • Fill with Halloween treats and display.

It still looks cute even without the candy too.

These ghost candy bowls could also be used inside for a fun candy bowl too and would be great for Halloween parties! You could even fill it with ice and use it as a drink holder.

Happy Halloween!

Felted carrot and wood bead Easter garland in an Easter vignette.

This cute felted carrot and wood bead Easter garland is easy to create and can be used for any Easter decor. Hang it on a mantel or add it to an Easter vignette for a fun pop of color.

Easter Carrot Decor

I always have fun creating seasonal displays on our dining room sideboard and I thought that I would go with a carrot them this year. I pulled out my carrot napkins that I bought a couple of years ago from HomeSense and printed an 11×14 version of my McGregor’s Carrot Patch sign to display {you might remember it from our spring kitchen last year}.

Although I wasn’t planning on buying anything new this year, I did end up picking up a felted ball and carrot garland from HomeSense. It was a little heavy for what I wanted {and a little too much green!} but I knew I could use the components to create something more my style. While I did feel a little guilty pulling apart a brand new garland, I love the new one so much more!

DIY Carrot and Wood Bead Easter Garland

This cute carrot and wood bead Easter garland can be made in less than 30 minutes and adds a special touch to any Easter decor. You can customize it to whatever colors or embellishments you’d like.

Materials

  • 0.8mm clear elastic bead cord
  • wood beads {I used the 20mm and 16mm beads}
  • felted balls {I bought the original felted ball garland from HomeSense but you can find felted balls HERE}
  • felted carrots {similar ones HERE} or other embellishments {you could easily make your own carrots from felt}
  • crafting needle or other needle with a large eye
  • twine {optional}

Directions

  • Cut the clear elastic cord to your desired garland length leaving some extra length. Knot the cord through the needle. Create a knot at the other end of the cord large enough that it won’t slip through the felt ball.
  • Choose the pattern you would like to use for your garland. I used a 16mm bead, 20mm bead, 16 mm bead and then alternated between a felted ball or felted carrot.

  • Thread through a felt ball and ensure that the knot will hold. Continue with your pattern until you have your desired length garland. Knot the end and cut the cord leaving a slight tail.
  • If you would like loops at the end of your garland to hang, loop some twine around the clear cord and knot.

  • Hang or display where you would like.

And there you have it! A fun and simple carrot and wood bead garland. I hope this inspires you to add a little carrot decor to your own home. Check back tomorrow for our full spring dining room tour and even more spring decor ideas.

Christmas Love

Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year and there are so many activities and traditions that I look forward to each year. From baking Christmas cookies and Christmas movie nights to Christmas lights and all of our fun family traditions – I love it all!

I created this Christmas love printable to celebrate some of my favorite things that make the holiday season so special. The print is actually hanging in our Christmas dining room, but it’s in a pretty awkward place to photograph. You can see it peeking out underneath the light fixture.

I took a few more photos so you could see it better. This would work well with almost any Christmas decor, so I hope you enjoy it.

Free Christmas Love Printable

I hope you can use this Christmas Love printable in your own home. I have it available in three different formatting sizes – 5×7, 8×10, and 11×14. To download your copy, just click on the size you’d like and save it to your computer. You can then print out the smaller sizes on your home printer or send them out to any digital photo service to have them printed. {NOTE: I always specify to NOT color correct if I’m sending them out for printing}. As always, these printables are FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY.

I always love to see how you guys use my printables. Let me know if you use them or tag me in your photos so I can check them out! For all of my favorite Christmas printables check out THIS POST.

Cute DIY Santa Ornament

Add some fun to your Christmas tree with these cute DIY Santa gnome ornaments! They’re easy to make with just a few materials needed.

Christmas Seasonal Simplicity Series

Welcome back to the second week of the Christmas Seasonal Simplicity Series! Each week my blogging friends and I will be sharing a variety of Christmas projects to inspire you for the season. From home decor and crafts to seasonal recipes and gift ideas – there’s something for everyone! Last week we showed you some fun Christmas crafts and DIY projects {you can see my gingerbread man garland HERE} and this week is all about DIY Christmas ornaments.

DIY Santa Gnome Ornaments

I always try to make at least one DIY Christmas tree ornament each year. Not only are they fun to make, but I also love looking back at the past ornaments that I created each year – especially the ones that I made with the kids. It’s amazing how many memories can be tied up in a craft project!

I wasn’t quite sure what to call this project – I was torn between it looking like Santa Claus and looking more like a Santa gnome. I ended up going with Santa Gnome but it could totally just be Santa Claus too. Either way, I think it turned out pretty cute and it will add a nice pop of red to our Christmas tree.

Santa Gnome Ornament Tutorial

Add a little fun to your Christmas tree or other Christmas decor with these fun Santa gnome ornaments! They’re easy to make and look so cute hanging from the tree.

Materials

  • white yarn {I really liked this multi-tone yarn that I picked up from Michaels}
  • red felt
  • hat pattern {download HERE}
  • wood bead for nose {or pom pom}
  • faux fur ribbon {I got mine at Michaels} or other faux fur
  • hot glue gum or other craft/fabric glue

Instructions

Beard

  • Cut a piece of cardboard 5 inches high {I used an old cereal box} to use to make Santa’s beard. Cut a slit in the bottom corner to secure your wool.

  • Secure the end of the yarn in the slit and wrap the yarn around the cardboard approximately 25 times.

  • Cut the end and slide it off the cardboard. Tie some more yarn around the top of loop, leaving a tail of 15-16 inches at one end. You’ll be using this as the loop for the ornament.

  • Cut the loops in the bottom of the beard.

Pom Pom for the Hat

  • To make the pom pom for the hat, wrap yarn approximately 20 times around 3 fingers.

  • Carefully pull the loop off your fingers and tie a piece of yarn around the middle of the loops. Cut the loops on either end and trim as needed to form a pom pom.

Santa  Assembly

  • Download the Santa hat pattern HERE and cut it out. Trace it over the felt and cut out. You will be able to make 2 hats for each 8 1/2 x 11 felt sheet.

  • Place the beard on the Santa hat so the top of the beard is around the level of where the curves start on the hat design and the tail goes up to past the top of the hat. Glue the yarn down from the top of the beard to the top of the hat. Fold the yarn back over itself to form a loop to hang the ornament. Glue down the second piece of the yarn to the inside of the hat along the same line as the first piece.

  • Glue the hat together. Start by just folding over the tip of the hat, secure with glue, and then glue along the rest of the hat.

  • Hot glue the pom pom to the top of the hat. Be sure to keep the hanging loop free when gluing.
  • Fold the fur ribbon in half and hot glue together. Glue the ribbon to the bottom of the felt hat overhanging the ribbon a little bit over the felt. Be sure the seam is in the back of the hat.

  • Use the hot glue to add the wood bead.

And you’re all done! If you’re making multiple Santas, making them assembly-line style will make it much quicker to make. I made about 4 in an hour.

Present Topper

I think these Santa ornaments would also make a cute present topper too. It dresses up the present nicely and adds a personalized touch to any gift. Your recipient can have one gift right away to hang on their tree and a second gift to put under the tree for Christmas. What can be better than that?

I hope you get a chance to give these Santa gnome ornaments a try! I’d love to hear if you make them!

Seasonal Simplicity Series

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I can’t believe it’s here, but today is the first week of The Happy Housie’s Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Series! Each week we’ll be sharing a variety of Christmas projects to inspire you for the season. From home decor and crafts to seasonal recipes and gift ideas – there’s something for everyone! We’re kicking things off this week with some fun Christmas crafts and DIY projects to get you started for the holidays. Be sure to check out all of the links at the end of the post.

Christmas Decorating

Even if you don’t like decorating until later November or early December, it’s still nice to get a jump start on any Christmas crafts or DIY projects that you would like to do. Time always goes so fast at this time of year and Christmas has a way of sneaking up on you.

I’m going to be doing a bit of a gingerbread theme in our dining room this year along with greens, ambers, and dried oranges. I used the dried oranges in our Christmas kitchen and family room  decor last year and loved them, so I knew I wanted to bring them out agin this year. They still smell amazing even after a year and the color has turned to a pretty shade of amber. I think this felt gingerbread man garland will help tie everything all together perfectly and I can’t wait to get started on the decorating!

This DIY felt gingerbread garland is so cute and very easy to make.  Drape it across the mantel, string it across a shelf, or use it to decorate the tree. You could even make some coordinating Christmas tree ornaments with the gingerbread men and wood beads on their own.

Materials

Instructions

  • If you aren’t using the pre-cut felt gingerbread men, download the gingerbread man template HERE. Cut it out and pin the template to your felt. Trace and cut out as many gingerbread men as needed.
  • Using the puffy paint, outline the gingerbread men and add any detailing that you would like. As it dries, there may be a few spots that you need to add some extra paint – just touch it up as needed. The instructions on my puffy paint said to use the steam setting on an iron to create more “puffiness”, but I didn’t find that it really made a difference. Mine still seemed to be puffy.

  • Cut the twine to the desired length of garland you would like leaving some extra length for adjustments. I left a good foot on each end. You can always cut it down if needed, but you can’t add extra!
  • Design the pattern you would like to use for your garland. I went gingerbread man; mid-sized bead, large-sized bead, mid-sized bead; dried orange; mid-sized bead, large-sized bead, mid-sized bead; and then repeated the pattern.

  • Thread your needle and start putting your garland together. I did a knot {or double knot for the large bead} on either side of the beads to hold them in place.

  • Continue your pattern for the rest of the garland and you’re done! If you need a little extra length, you can always add a series of wood beads on either end.

Look for our Chistmas dining room tour in a few weeks to see everything put together! I hope you have fun with this!

Air Dry Clay Leaves Twinkle Lights

No matter the season, I always LOVE twinkle lights! As the fall weather starts to cool and the days get shorter, twinkle lights add such a warm, cozy feeling to any space. Plus, they just make everything prettier!

I made some air dry clay stars last Christmas and wanted to do a fall version. They were lots of fun to make and add that little extra touch to your fall decor. I used them in our fall beverage bar in the dining room and love the extra detail.

DIY Air Dry Clay Leaves

These air dry clay leaves are super simple to make but can be used in so many creative ways for your fall decor. I used mine for some pretty fall twinkle lights but check out some other uses for them at the end of the post.

Materials

  • air dry clay. I purchased my clay to keep it simple but you can always make your own DIY air dry clay if you’d like. I made 25 two inch stars from about 1 lb. of clay {although this will vary depending on how thick you make yours}.
  • leaf of your choice
  • exacto knife
  • rolling pin
  • wood skewer or other small tool to poke a hole
  • twinkle lights. I always look for lights that have an automatic on/off so they come on {and go off} each night without me having to remember!

Directions

  • Roll out air dry clay on parchment paper or other non-stick surface. I made mine a little less than about 1/4 inch thick. Just try to get it as uniform as possible.
  • Place your leaf over the clay with the underside of the leaf down on the clay.

  • Using the rolling pin, roll firmly over the leaf. It’s best to do it in one roll as the leaf can move if you roll back and forth.

  • Cut out the leaf shape with the exacto knife. I cut off the stem for mine but you could leave it on if you would like.

  • Remove the excess clay.

  • Using a wood skewer, I smoothed out the sides and added some slight folds to the leaves by pressing in lightly with the skewer.

  • If you’re going to be hanging them or using them for twinkle lights, use a wood skewer or other small tool to place a hole in the leaf. Just check to make sure it’s big enough to fit through your twinkle light strand!

  • Let your leaves dry for 36-48 hours until completely dry. If there are any rough edges you can lightly sand them down with fine grit sand paper. If you’d like you can even add some paint to your leaves with acrylic paint and/or seal them with Mod Podge for a more polished look.
  • String the leaves through your twinkle lights and display.

What can I use the air dry clay leaves for?

One of the reasons that I love this project, is that there are so many different ways you can use them. Here are a few other ideas for the air dry clay leaves…

  • layer them on a fall garland (they’d look great with wood beads!}
  • hang them with fishing wire, baker’s twine, or ribbon
  • place them in a bowl with ornaments
  • decorate a wreath
  • paint them. Just let them fully dry and add your favorite fall paints colors.

I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did. It’s a great project to do with your kiddos too! Happy fall crafting!

Summer Picnic Essentials Free Summer Printables

I love a good summer picnic! Delicious food, a pretty set-up, and a relaxing time to visit with family and friends make it one of those favorite summer activities. To celebrate the season, I created this cute “Summer Picnic Essentials” free printable for you. It works perfectly for your summer decor or for some summer party styling. I hope you enjoy it!

You may have already seen the large 11×14 printable hanging in our kitchen. Since I couldn’t get a great photo of it in there though, I thought I’d style it in our dining room. This pink version was inspired by those beautiful red and pink tones from summer watermelon, raspberries, and strawberries.

I also have a smaller, blue version of the printable in the beverage corner of our dining room if you’re more of a blueberry person.

This is the 5x 7 size that I trimmed down slightly to fit this clip frame.

This printable would work great for a summer BBQ or party buffet table. Or use it for some cute party invitations!

This printable comes in two colors – blue and red/pink. There are also three different formatting sizes for you to choose from. Just click on the link that you would like and save it to your computer for printing. Please note that these printables are FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY.
